August 2017 - December 2017 - "Looking Back Farm" (Erynn Ballard) An "A" Circuit Barn
Having graduated from college with an HNC in Equine Studies in 2016 I went to Canada on an IEC Visa, and worked for 11 months at JW Quarter Horses, where I was taught by the owner, John Isley, to break in and train 3 years olds for the Western Riding style, and halter break the colts & fills. I also helped his family run the ranch, with a head 120 horses, mostly outdoors, managing their feed, and general well being. This was a stud ranch and I assisted with breeding programmes. when necessary. I also had the opportunity to tow the 34 ft trailer when John & I were taking horses to auction, and general hauling of horses.
In August 2016 I was employed by "Looking Back Farm", Sandy Ballard, to be a groom at her "A Circuit Barn, amongst of team 3 others. Apart from the expected groom duties, I was also left in sole charge 8 horses when the team were away at shows etc.
I returned home to the UK in January 2018 with a view to continuing my career with horses, and building up my experience with horses.
I hold a full UK driving licence, have access to a car, and am about to get my trailer licence. I am a non smoker.
Relevant experience
I have been around horses all my life, since the age of 4. I have owned/loaned ponies/horses until I went to college in 2015.
Through my work experience with JW Quarter Horses, Alberta, Canada, I had the opportunity to learn how to break in & train 3 year olds, and halter break colts.
I understand how to manage and care for horses.
It is my wish through my work to learn more.
