I rely on my energetic personality, strong analytical and problem solving skills to lead and manage my team in the management and well being of all the animals under my care. I have been fortunate enough to, among other things, manage a variety of independent yards as well as the biggest NGO yard in South Africa. I have been residing in the UK for a year and a year now. I took a year to get settled in the UK living and the culture. Thus meaning I have worked in the corporate sector in education. My sales background is above average as well as my customer service points. I have managed various big yards such as, Alba Equestrian Centre (AEC), an upmarket equestrian centre in Durbanville, Cape Town. Here I supervise a stable yard of up to 45 horses/ponies. I have manage all the day to day responsibilities associated with the centre which among other things, include the management of: all staff (7 grooms, 5 general staff); fodder and nutrition; equine health and veterinary requirements (Incl. farrier and dentistry). Included in my portfolio is the planning and implementation of monthly shows at AEC, clinics and associated talks from experienced facilitators in the equine industry. I also teach and school a number of horses and pupils at different levels as well as being responsible for all turnout of horses and ponies for showing and dressage competitions. I have also brought on various youngsters for resale during my time at AEC. Previously I managed another equestrian centre (Legends) with a stable yard of up to 45 horses/ponies. While at Legends I founded and established the LEAP programme. The Legends Equestrian Adoption Programme (LEAP) sought to ensure ex racehorses off the track found a loving home and were given a second ‘career’. Once assessed, all horses were then schooled in order to be ready for their new competitive career. I have come from an extremely horsey background, and have been producing and backing horses/ponies from the age of 16 for the show ring in various disciplines (dressage/showing/show jumping). I have however been riding since the age of 7 competitively and am currently jumping at 1.20m. This means that I have acquired extensive knowledge on the following aspects of livery and equine instruction: * Veterinary knowledge * Horse/pony schooling * Rider instruction (beginners - advanced) * Backing and producing * Stallion management * Equine nutrition * Yard management * Groom management * Tack, bits and various other equine equipment I have competed competitively at a national level, obtaining my colours in children's dressage, show jumping as well as pony club colours in dressage and show jumping. I have received the Junior Nicollete trophy for dressage and was also a Rand Show winner in the warm blood and working horse classes. I have also held various other showing titles. I currently compete in elementary and medium dressage, as well as showing and show jumping. I also have a good eye for horse/pony. Previously I have managed the Horse Care Unit for the Cape of Good Hope SPCA (The largest in South Africa), my own yards and feed companies. Where I managed the units budgets, outgoing and incoming.I thoroughly enjoy dealing and working with horses and people and this is where I am at my best.
