CV Headline
Hi there, my name is Josh cook and I am currently a full time Sous Chef at a busy and popular restaurant! I absolutely love my job and everything that goes with working in such a fast paced and professional environment. However, kitchens are not practical places to enjoy horses! My number one passion in life is working with animals, and more specifically horses. I have made the decision to act on my dream and pursue a career in the equine industry.
Relevant experience
From as early as I can remember my family have always kept horses, mainly for showing. Throughout my teenage years I worked on several different farms in various capacities. My sister has always had horses and ponies, and so it was quite natural for me to take horse riding lessons A few years ago and I was bitten by the bug, I have owned my own horse ever since!
In my previous role as a Deputy Manager of an Outdoor Activity Centre it was my responsibility to oversee the daily running of the centre, and to lead groups of activities such as archery, rock climbing, mountain biking, and a whole host of other outdoor activities such as sessions learning about wildlife and natural bushcraft skills. I also has input in staff management, employment and some HR.
I have held many varied roles over the years, I have worked as a handyman at Blackburn borough council, and I also worked as a handyman at a Chateau in Paris on a six month contract.
I live in the rural countryside and I always lend a hand to local farms and farmers and also on the livery yard during busy times. (That's if I'm not in the kitchen!)
Current role - description
My current role is as Junior head chef / Sous chef. It is a very demanding job which sees me working 70 hours plus a week. I work within quite a large team both front and back of house, and as second in command have to manage the team accordingly. I love my job but I feel I need to pursue my dream of working outdoors and with horses.
