Animal Therapist skills: As part of my training at Writtle University College I am able to:
- Perform a detailed and accurate visual evaluation of the gait of the animal and physics with palpation on equine and canine patients
- Evaluate in an objective and analytical way how to approach the case taking into account the clinical case, the patient's history and lifestyle, as this is the fundamental aspect to be able to perform the best therapy
- Perform advanced massage techniques specialized in sports massage and therapeutic massage
- Advanced skills in the use of electrotherapies such as photobiomodulation (low-level laser and red light therapies), therapy with pulsed electromagnetic fields, ultrasound (long and short waves), h-wave therapy, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES), micro currents and in the application of thermotherapy and cryotherapy.
- Perform hydrotherapy in the underwater treadmill for both canine and equine patients and hydrotherapy in the pool with canine patients
- Prescribe rehabilitation and recovery exercises, this means instructing animal owners on the conduct that the animal must follow at home (what possible exercises a patient must do daily or what is contraindicated for that case) in order to have a more effective hospitalization faster.
