CV Headline

Amanda Parry, 21 Years Old, University student - Graduating June 2016, Fine Art.

Despite my course being fine art, I am a more than competent rider. At my university for two years I have been the media secretary for the Kingston University Horse Riding Society, which was started up in my first year and we have been campaigning for the society to become a full sports society. I am a very hard working individual and always seek to please. I use my initiative in daily tasks in order to improve the running of the yard and enjoy any task that I am presented with.

Though I do not have qualifications that relate to horses, I have a decades worth of experience and I am more than capable and eager to learn at every opportunity.

Relevant experience

Despite not having BHS qualifications, I have over 12 years of experience riding horses as well as 6 years worth of experience working as a groom and stable hand for a riding school. More recently I have been riding and assisting an up and coming event rider both exercising her horses and assisting with their day to day care. Together we have also been bringing on numerous youngsters and horses that require re-schooling. I am a competent rider with experience in re-school thoroughbreds and am currently re-schooling a hanoverian who is known to be stressy despite being trained in dressage to a high level and needs a calm hand to stop his quirks. I have competed in both Showjumping up to 1.10m and One day events up to BE90.

In terms of my ability as a groom, I'm quick and efficient when it comes to day to day stable chores and take pride in making sure the horses have been catered to as sufficiently and as neatly as possible. I can clip horses to a high standard and pulling manes and tails is not a problem. I am neat at plaiting and have frequently been placed well in showing classes.

Current role - description

Rider for an up and coming event rider.

As said previously I school many of her horses as well as competing on a regular basis and have been given a rising 7 year old mare to continue working with who has had numerous problems such as inability to have a bit in the mouth, head throwing and a peculiar jump. Since, we have been able to put a drop cheek beris bit with great results with much less head throwing and is happy to drop into a contact. We have also been able to tackle her jumping problem and have successfully jumped to 1.20m round a small course.

A part from riding, I do yard chores.
