I consider myself to be a hardworking conscientious, trustworthy individual who enjoys working as part of a team however using my own initiative is a key skill that I have acquired throughout my working life. From a young age I have been competing (county level, Royal International), riding and caring for my own and other horses due to my parents being equine enthusiasts and owning a producing yard. During this time I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in the equine industry. Following this I am a committed and driven BSC Equine Science with rehabilitation Graduate with a sound understanding of horses and how they work utilising sound organisation skills.
Relevant experience
Nathan Deakin Equine – May 2016 – January 2017
Employed part time within a professional breaking and schooling yard, to carry out yard duties and exercise young horses.
Riding employment – summer 2015
Employed to take sole care of, ride and compete advanced Dressage horses. Also schooling and training project horses with a view to sell on within specific time frames.
Yard Hand/ Rider – 2009 - 2012
Employed to take care of livery horses and horses that were there to be produced. This would include daily duties of mucking out to a high standard within a set time frame, ensuring horses were adequately fed and had a constant supply of fresh running water at all times, ensuring the 5 freedoms were met, schooling of each horse and competing up to Royal International level.
Current role - description
Newmarket Equine Hospital
Employed full time as an equine technician in this prestigious establishment to take care of inpatients within the hospital (foals, yearlings, colts, filly’s, stallions, mares and geldings), assist vetinarians with diagnostics (x-ray, scintigraphy, lameness work- ups, MRI, scanning), assisting with recovery of Zaid horses/ foals from anaesthesia, preparing Zaid horses for surgery and assisting with standing surgery’s.
