Description

Full-time, live-in groom/rider required at Fairlight Stud, a sports horse/pony stud based near Bristol, in North Somerset. You will work alongside the yard owner and other members of the team, assisting in all aspects of running the stud. We have three graded performance stallions, foals, youngstock, broodmares plus competition horses and ponies.

The role includes all yard duties and daily riding. We are looking for a capable, quiet rider and experience of starting young sports horses is essential.  Applicants should be confident handling fit horses and ponies on the ground and be able to work well as part of our existing team. Although experience is essential, we appreciate that everyone has different strengths and weaknesses, so willingness to learn new skills, a positive attitude and the understanding that producing young horses requires patience and time are extremely important.

On-site accommodation in a centrally heated, double glazed, modern flat, (bathroom with both shower and bath) provided. Five days per week to include some weekends.

We are members of the BGA / EEA, so you will have a written contract, competitive salary, statutory holiday and pension scheme. Unfortunately we have no room for a horse on site but a well-behaved dog/cat is welcome. There are many local livery yards where staff members own horses can be kept.

We are a happy team and there is plenty of friendly yard banter, so a good sense of humour and a commitment to teamwork will be needed. This role would suit a competent and capable groom, wanting a varied role on a busy and exciting professionally-run yard. We maintain an up to date health and safety policy and expect team members to abide by this.
