Description

Fairlight Stud is an established sports horse stud based south of Bristol, with close links to both M4 & M5 motorways. Although we are in a peaceful, rural location, we are very close to two local towns which have all the amenities you would need for both shopping and entertainment. Bristol is approximately 20 minutes by car. The horses we breed are mostly for eventing but we do also have some dressage youngsters and some who will more naturally be showjumpers. We have stallions, broodmares, foals and older youngsters onsite and other youngsters in training with professional riders at their own yards.

We are currently looking for an experienced person with a passion for giving young sports horses the very best start to their ridden careers, someone who would really value the part they had played in giving a talented young horse the opportunity to be happy in their work from the very beginning.

The successful candidate will need good handling skills, be able to work as part of a team and be able to manage their own time to cover the tasks they are responsible for. Apart from general yard duties, this role is focussed on starting the young horses we have bred. You will need to be able to demonstrate kindness and empathy as well as good lungeing and long-reining techniques.

You will be joining an established team of people who are great to work with and are supportive of each other. Everyone works well together as a team but each is able to work alone when focussing on their own jobs.

We prepare the horses here before they go off to be backed and ridden away. This role doesn't need to involve any riding of the youngsters, so would suit an experienced person looking for a non-riding position.

We have very good onsite accommodation, which is not shared with anyone else. As members of the EEA we provide full contracts for all staff members, 28 days paid annual leave, 2 consecutive days off each week and an optional pension scheme. Any additional training you need to further your skills can also be provided.

One of our young mares, Fairlight Catwalk is currently doing very well at intermediate with Saffron Cresswell. This is the standard of horses we are breeding and we would really value someone who wants to play a vital role in the process which creates a top class sports horse.
