Full-time, live-in head groom / yard manager required on a family showjumping yard in Grønholt, 30 minutes north of Copenhagen, Denmark. To care for nine horses and ponies alongside other part-time members of staff. The appointed candidate would be expected to oversee the day-to-day running of the stables, managing the horses and be the main competition groom for national and international shows. The role would also include all normal stable duties, working as part of a team in the day-to-day care of the horses. Some light grounds keeping also included in the role – grass cutting etc. The appointed candidate will be required to manage the yard diary - including farrier, physio, vet bookings as well as the part-time staff rota, so good communication skills are key. Must be able to turnout to a high standard – clip, plait and trim etc. Previous experience working on a competition yard essential – and showjumping experience preferred. The family includes two children (nine and 13) so you must be happy working with well-behaved children on the yard and at competitions. The 13 year old is at approximately one FEI show per month abroad and trialling for the Europeans. All staff on the yard and the family speak fluent English, so Danish language skills, whilst beneficial would not be essential. There is some sole-charge in this position – so applicants must be happy working alone at times and be 100% trustworthy, reliable and able to work autonomously. On-site accommodation included. Competitive wage offered depending on experience. The role would suit an experienced, professional groom and rider who can work to high standards and on own initiative. A fabulous opportunity to join a friendly, family yard run to professional standards. To start June / July 2016.
